I enjoy working in a team environment, pulling the very best ideas together into a cohesive whole and delivering that combined vision.

Alex Howell, PLA, LEED-AP

Alex helps teams produce excellent, sustainable, functional and attractive site development projects while fostering client relationships. He is an effective communicator of both conceptual designs and technical documentation, with a strong experience base in Hospitality, Retail, Office, Healthcare, and Municipal Facility project types. As a designer, he leans toward minimalism, giving priority to material choices, texture, rhythm, and color. This design philosophy stresses great detailing and seeks to showcase a full composition of the best features of the site and surrounding architecture. Each design seeks a balance of elements. Alex believes there should be an appropriate mix of environmental responsibility, variability of social interaction, inspirational artistic components, architectural structure, and economic feasibility.

Prior to co-founding Oro Design Group, Alex was an Associate and Project Manager with two large multi-disciplinary firms, a Project Manager for a large landscape contractor on a high-profile installation, and mentored in his formative years by two FASLA professionals. Through these experiences, Alex has a broad understanding of the design and construction industry.

What turns a ‘project’ into a ‘great project’, is the ability of the entire team to be open to a collaborative process and collectively realize every ounce of potential.

Jason Nobbe

Jason is an optimist! His infectious upbeat approach to landscape architecture resonates with everyone he encounters. His personable style of leadership breaks down barriers and allows all those that surround him, including clients, consultants and fellow team members, to be comfortable contributing to his teams. As a result, projects that he touches are fun and memorable for all involved. This intentional familiarity, coupled with his experience gained during 16 years of practice in the landscape architecture field, has allowed Jason to become a trusted and accountable resources for many with whom he has collaborated.

Prior to co-founding Oro Design Group, Jason was a Senior Project Manager for two large design firms in Austin. With this gained experience, Jason comprehends projects from start to finish and this expertise allows him to be proactive at every stage of design; intercepting potential issues before they become problems. During documentation and construction phases, he works closely with clients and contractors to ensure projects are delivered on time, on budget, and that the client’s expectations are met. This attentiveness yields lasting relationships with clients, colleagues, and contractors who truly value working with him.

It’s important to clarify complexity, both in the design process and as a finished installation.

Courtney Tarver, PLA

Courtney has quickly assumed tremendous responsibility as a Project Manager at Oro Design Group. Her practiced knowledge of conceptual design, jurisdictional requirements, and construction documentation place her at the forefront of the most complex projects for the firm. Building on her experience on the largest projects at Oro and her past employer, Courtney’s focus on clarity of design erases any boundaries between disciplines.

She is an integral part of our focus on collaborative effort across disciplines. During the design process, Courtney places emphasis on the connection between the landscape, site, and architecture. Her attention to experiential qualities and regional landscape character support a design unified by both its use and its surroundings. Her experience and interest in modern architectural design translates to her bold planting and hardscape design aesthetic. Mixing materials, textures, and forms, Courtney’s layered designs add richness to the finished landscape. She typically spends her personal time either exploring urban places or taking other people’s money on the billiards table.
